A workflow-control platform where "ready" is not "authorized"

Most tools treat a task that looks ready as a task that may proceed. This platform exists to keep those two ideas apart — and to make the difference something you check, not something you infer.

§1 The situation

Work that mixes human and AI contributors has a status problem: a task can look finished, claimed, or approved in prose while being none of those things in fact. The gap is harmless until something automated acts on it. This project set out to build a personal workflow-control platform where the operational questions — ready for whom, claimed by whom, approved by whom, proven how — have checkable answers.

§2 What I did

Designed, implemented, reviewed, and operated the platform: explicit task states and readiness rules, assignments and leases so a claim on work is recorded rather than assumed, approval gates that keep human decisions in the loop, structured human/AI handoffs, and verification artifacts backed by schemas and automated tests. Development was collaborative and materially AI-assisted — disclosed here because disclosure is the platform's whole subject.

§3 Result

surface: task states · readiness · assignments · leases
controls: approval gates · human/AI handoffs · verification artifacts
ownership: designed, implemented, reviewed — collaborative, AI-assisted

An operational surface where work status, claimability, approvals, evidence, and handoffs are checked instead of inferred from prose. Questions that used to be answered by reading a thread became queries with answers.

§4 Difficulty & judgment

The central problem was keeping "ready" distinct from "authorized" — preserving human decisions as first-class state, and preventing stale approvals or incomplete evidence from ever looking actionable. The thesis the platform argues for: AI-assisted work gets safer and easier to coordinate when ownership, permissions, evidence, and stop conditions are enforceable, not just written down.

§5 Not claimed

Deliberately left unclaimed

  • Production or employer deployment — this is a personal project, and it reads that way here.
  • Independent authorship — development was collaborative and materially AI-assisted; making exactly that kind of boundary explicit is the platform's own discipline.
  • Adoption, scale, or reliability figures — none are recorded in the evidence, so none appear.

§6 The same work, other lenses

Business systems
Work intake, readiness, assignment, decisions, and completion modeled as a queryable operational system.
Operations leadership
Queue state, blockers, ownership, approvals, and next actions made visible to operators.
Responsible AI governance
Human accountability turned into explicit workflow states, approval gates, handoffs, and verification evidence.
